Here is how the process works once your assessment is approved:
1. You Receive a Referral Code
After your assessment, My Aged Care will send you a letter with an official Referral Code (or approval letter). This code acts like a voucher for your government funding.
2. You Choose the Service Provider
You take that code and shop around for a local home care provider that you like. You can compare providers based on:
- Staff: You can ask for workers who speak your language, share your background, or have specific training.
- Pricing: You can compare their hourly fees and administration costs.
- Services: You check if they offer the exact help you want (like gardening, showering, or transport).
3. The Provider Assigns the Worker
Once you sign an agreement with your chosen provider, they will match you with a specific support worker.
- You can change workers: If a worker arrives and you do not feel comfortable with them, you can contact the provider and ask for a different person.
- You can change companies: If you are unhappy with the entire company, you can take your referral code and switch to a completely different provider.
